Encouraging the Encouragers and a Giveaway
Confession; I’ve been in a bit of a “funk” over the last few weeks. I have a few projects I’m working on and truth be told, I have been getting discouraged. I’ve started getting down on myself and wondering why even bother. Well this isn’t anything new; I’ve been in “funks” before, but this time I decided to approach it in a different way.
Recently DaySpring (who I absolutely LOVE) send me a bunch of cards to use to encourage others and though I myself wasn’t feeling very encouraged I decided to let some of the women who I get to walk through life with know how much I value their friendships and how thankful I am to have them in my life.
You see I have not always had a “tribe”. By that I mean I haven’t always had “sisters”, girlfriends who I love and who love me back. Women who have had my back and who have been there to pray for and with me. Who inspire me and can see the best in me even when I can’t. But at this season of my life I do. So rather than have a “pity party” for ME, I wanted to celebrate THEM. It was time to encourage my “encouragers”.
A few years ago I heard a message preached about how sometimes we need to get out of our own “selves” and focus on others we’re feeling down. That sermon has really stayed with me. It seems counter intuitive but it really works.
I’m not feeling so “funky” anymore. Rather, I feel incredibly blessed and have a renewed sense of purpose. There really is great blessing in ridding ourselves of “ourselves” and taking time our to bless others.
Is there someone in your life you could bless with a card or a simple note? Or have you been blessed by a note of encouragement?
Leave me a comment by 10pm PST on Sunday 9/30/12 and you’ll be entered to win a set of Happy Heart Puzzle Cards so you can bless someone too! Winner will be announced on Monday, October 1st.
That’s so true!! Whenever I’m in a “funk” doing something for someone else always helps! Beautiful cards by DaySpring..
Hi Alecia,
Thanks for stopping by!
Real mail is always an encouragement! I am truly horrible at sending it, but always feel so excited when I do write a note and mail it to someone who needs encouragement.
I know, right? Real mail, what a concept 🙂
Hope you’re doing well!
I am terrible at sending by post cards or notes, but it was on my 50 for 50 list this year, so I need to get going! Thanks for the reminder…
Blessings!
Thanks for stopping by Katharine. I love your 50 for 50, I need to get a list going myself 🙂
I hope you know you can call me whenever the funk decides to make a visit:) My ears can handle the funk!
You are doing amazing things!
I love DaySpring too:) I smiled when I stumbled upon you from Katharine’s link up because I got to write about DaySpring cards this month also. Not the cure puzzle ones though. Blessings to you!
