A Holiday Peek. . .

Sorry friends, I’ve been gone for a bit. It’s just that kind of season right? Things to do, bake, eat. You know.

Well, I wanted to do a quick check in and give you a quick peek into our home (at least part of it) for the holidays.

So a few years ago, I had this crazy idea that it would be fun to start a new holiday tradition of heading down to a Christmas Tree farm and cutting down our own tree. (And by that I mean my husband and boys would cut down the tree and I would take pictures) I thought it would be so fun, to pick the tree, get some hot chocolate, visit with Santa, etc.

Family bonding right? Doesn’t it look fun?

Well, we did it for a few years but apparently, I was the only one who enjoyed this tradition. And so after much begging and pleading I gave in and said “OK, FINE this year we can just go to the local tree lot, whatever!

I’ll admit, I wasn’t quite as excited about it but I was determined we would have a tree so I was willing to compromise. And I mean OK, so yeah there was that one year when that had to cut the tree in the rain, but it was fun. . .

Anyhow, I do like our tree lot tree  A LOT! And everyone had fun decorating and I think it looks super cute.

To be quite honest, I’m kinda loving our house right now. My sweet, darling husband painted our living room over Thanksgiving and it looks so great that I need to share with y’all.

Our living room, doesn’t it look cozy? (ignore laundry pile on couch)

So in addition to our cute tree, if  you were to come over you would also see . . .

Our stockings, though when we got our PEACE holders we thought we were “done” and would be family of 5 but then we had little Jakey and we still really need to get a 6th stocking holder.

Our “new” advent calendar. Last time I shared about our homemade advent calendar but this year in addition to that one, my sweet in-laws sent us this fun new calendar. There’s a little door for each day and inside is a magnet that goes on the nativity scene. The kids get so excited to open the doors and see what will be inside. So far we’ve had stars, camels, shepherds, some sheep and a donkey, the innkeeper and Mary & Joseph. Super fun & cute!

Finally, meet “Elfity”. (My sweet daughter named him) He’s our elf from “The Elf on the Shelf”. He’s here to keep an eye on us and report back to Santa about whether the kids have been “naughty or nice”. He moves around a lot and we’re never quite sure where he’ll show up. If you’re not familiar with the story, definitely check out the link because it’s really a fun thing to do with the kids.

OK, that’s it for now. I hope you’ve enjoyed this little visit and that you all are enjoying peace and love in your own homes and families during this season.

And please share what are some of the things in your homes that make up your holiday decor? Anything really special you look forward to putting up every year?

Love you all!

Oh and we are continuing with our holiday blog hop so please check out my friends, Jen, Katharine and Julie!
