This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. 1 John 3:16

That is the absolute definition of love; Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. . .

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

We all know the verse, right? Or at least I’m sure most of us have heard it or seen it, maybe at a football game or something? But are we living it out?

God loves us, so He sent His son to this earth to suffer and die for our sins so that we would be reconciled with the father and be able to have eternal life.

This is THE promise. Without His love, there would be no need for the other promises. Because He loves us He provides, He gives wisdom, He is our friend. Because He loves us.

But we need to be willing receive His love in order to make it real in our lives. It’s free and readily available but He doesn’t force it on us; we must be open in order to fully experience the greatness of His love.

Today let’s consider:

Are we living out God’s promise of Love in our lives?

Are we living as His beloved? If not, what is holding us back . . .?

Are we loving others well? And are we laying down our lives for our brothers and sisters?
